Microplastic Bucket

Device:

The microplastic'Bucket' device has the capacity to filter 10,000l of seawater in 40min. It is assembled from four main components, Float body, filter bucket, pump and weight in one unit. The three float bodies are placed triangular around the filter bucket For buoyancy. A 30l bucket including a 300-micron mesh inlay and a rubber drain valve shape the core of the device. At the bottom of the bucket, a bilge pump is mounted to enable a constant water flow while operation. For buoyancy and stability. ..., a counterweight is mounted below the pump.


Function:

The device is operating flawlessly and quite. After a 40min sea trial in Zushi, the mesh was pointed with many green particles that looked like plankton. It was not possible to spot any microplastic with the eye.
