What is OMNI Marine Litter?
Marine litter is waste from the land that has washed into the ocean and drifts across vast seas.
This global and complex problem cannot be solved within the limited circle of researchers alone. It requires engaging various stakeholders, including local residents, businesses, and municipalities, to collaborate in research and consider actions together.
Through the design of communication methods that make marine litter research more accessible to the general public and the creation of spaces that encourage collective thinking and action, we aim to foster mutual learning between researchers and local communities to reduce marine litter.

Guideline Design
We designed guidelines for beach cleanups and municipal marine litter reduction measures based on the input of local residents.

Device Development
We are developing beach cleanup tools and devices that contribute to the reduction of marine litter.
Prototype Device Design Examples

Scoop Type
Device capable of removing fine debris over a wide area without bending over
Sieve Type
A device that selectively removes fine debris with a paper sieve
Bag Holder
Tool to protect trash bag from the wind and make trash pickup and sorting easier
Litter Station
A concept that reimagines the role of waste stations to promote better waste separation

Workshop
We design workshops for marine litter reduction ideas that anyone can participate in.
